A look at the West PAC Copper with one week to go.

1. Houghton 1-0 (2-1) Plays Hancock Next Week
Win vs Negaunee

2. Iron Mountain 3-1 (4-1) Bye Next Week
Forfeit Wins vs Westwood, Calumet and Hancock, Forfeit Loss vs L'Anse

3. Westwood 2-1 (4-1) Plays Negaunee Next Week
Win vs L'Anse, Forfeit Win vs Hancock, Forfeit Loss vs Iron Mountain

4. Negaunee 1-1 (3-2) Plays Westwood Next Week
Win vs L'Anse, Loss vs Houghton

5. Calumet 1-1 (2-2) Plays Marquette Next Week
Win vs Hancock, Forfeit Loss vs Iron Mountain

6. L'Anse 1-2 (2-3) Plays Bark River-Harris Next Week
Forfeit Win vs Iron Mountain, Loss vs Negaunee and Westwood

7. Hancock 0-3 (1-3) Plays Houghton Next Week
Loss vs Calumet, Forfeit Loss vs Westwood and Iron Mountain

*Currently MHSAA's website has the L'Anse Iron Mountain game listed as a IM win, but because it was Dickinson that shut down, I'm assuming that that is just a mistake

You really think a "conference championship" means something this year?? IM has a chance to be champs and not play a game???

Longball is correct! It means absolutely nothing.

Knowing Houghton, I'm sure they will prance around claiming they won the West-Pac if they beat Hancock. This being their first conference championship in decades, however, if anyone knows anything about Houghton
this team wouldn't even rank in their top 20 all-time. They can't score! 18 points in 3 games played! The only thing they seem capable of doing is playing defense, but everyone knows Calumet would put up at least 20 on them if not 30+.
Be proud of what was accomplished but Houghton should not be claiming any championships when most teams are dodging games because of a pandemic.

Conference champs would mean as much as UCF's national championship this year. Only mythical.

Doesn't mean some of these schools do not deserve some respect. Houghton has been impressively competitive this year when they could play. Iron Mountain has played only one game all year. I feel bad for those kids and teams that have had to do similar.

MHSAA has given Iron Mountain a forfeit WIN, not a LOSS, against L'Anse last week?

The entire MHSAA forfeit thing is weird this year with both teams unable to play yet one gets a forfeit win, but even the IM Daily News had that as a forfeit win for L'Anse. Maybe its a mistake.
