Football Game 10/12/19 Against Pickford
PRESS RELEASE
PICKFORD vs. STEPHENSON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th, 2019
Stephenson High School has made the decision to withdraw the football team from competitive play for the contest against Pickford High School, scheduled for Saturday, October 12th, 2019 to protect the health and safety of our student-athletes. The current state of the football team precludes the program from providing a safe environment for the participants involved. Team members have received numerous injuries this season, with a substantial portion of our roster not medically cleared to participate or has injuries limiting their participation. The athletic department is not willing to compromise the health and safety of our student-athletes, and participating in a contest this week could prove to be detrimental to the Varsity football program. The team is still committed to each other and the idea of completing the season — this is a decision that we will revisit early next week based on the health of our student-athletes. The safety of our student-athletes is paramount and we will make every decision with their best interest in mind.

Other than getting to put up stats this game wasn't worth playing anyway and its a long drive. I heard that Pickford picked up Gaylord St Mary's instead? If so this is a gift for both teams.

Also, a much shorter drive for Pickford! GSM gets to avoid picking up a third forfeit win (the Snowbirds had forfeit wins in weeks 4 and 5). This should be a competitive game. If Stephenson had played Pickford, it would have been something like 100-0 in favor of Pickford as Stephenson just got blown out by Carney-Nadeau
