Port Edwards played in a D-6/7 conference, no way none of them even talk to schools the size of Kingsford. There may be an opportunity to get a game, but be prepared to travel.

Kingsford was not contacted about Port Edwards..........they were contacted about Poynette.....a week before Poynette agreed to a game with Winnebago Lutheran

The Washburn co-op is now canceling games, including Hurley on week 1. Hurley tried to set a game up with Pacelli, but they opted to schedule Dodgeland in place of Westfield.

Yes, probably won't even consider it. Making matters worse Chequamegon bailed out on a week 1 JV game, too.

Heard from my AD that Port Edwards is trying to patch together an 8 man season, they are playing Phillips week 1.

Ishpeming has filled their week 3 open date, they will be traveling to Wild Rose per Travis Wilson from wissports.net.

Ishpeming has essentially replaced Calumet with Wild Rose. Now Wild Rose is a decent Class D football program (enrollment 170ish). They have been known to have pretty good regular season records and usually get beat the very first playoff game. So this is an upgrade to their schedule taking on Ishpeming. Good for them.

That said, Ishpeming lost Calumet off the schedule this year with the additions to the WestPAC and Calumet not having room to play Ishpeming. The Hematites had a chance to play D5 Kingsford on a one year deal who is an hour away from them. Probably in the Swamp. Instead they chose to drive 4 and a half hours to avoid that matchup. Now I respect the heck out of Ishpeming as a well coached and well played program, but this disappoints me.

You don't have a football soul if you wouldn't get pumped up to see a matchup between programs like Ishpeming and Kingsford.

Instead we get..... meh..... a game at Wild Rose, while Kingsford likely wont find anyone willing to play them in week 3.

In week 3, how does Mora (MN) have an open date? Minnesota is a closed state for scheduling (unless there are an odd number of 11-man MN schools this year OR somebody cancelled their season)

Good point...I just caught that, too. Minnesota is all district play now unless they are a team short.

Mora has only 7 games scheduled.,,.....with two possible open dates..,,.....Minnesota schools are allowed to schedule an out of state school IF there are no Minnesota schools to play

Perhaps Kingsford can get a game with Grantsburg WI as it's their only option to get a game for week 3.

Possible opponents for other 11-man UP teams

Week 4 Lake Linden Hubbell......... Wisconsin teams
Week 6 Newberry...........Mancelona and other downstate teams
Week 8 Munising............Au Gres Sims
Week 9 Gogebic............. Frankfort

Grantsburg has an enrollment of 261, plus they already get a forfeit win for Washburn. The only thing they have to gain is a chance to pad their seeding resume by beating a much larger school. They do have a D-1 linebacker.

I emailed each U.P. school about any potential opponents, either in Michigan or Wisconsin.......the downstate schools refused to play games against the U.P. schools..........,.

More like chickened out against playing the Yoopers....not much the U.P. schools can do when that happens

True, looks like LLH, Munising and Newberry will be playing 8-game schedules this season. Bark River Harris and Norway are lucky to get 9 games on their schedules. Maybe perhaps some teams from Illinois or Minnesota for LLH and Munising, or there's Appleton North and Wisconsin Dells for Munising to choose from week 8. Newberry is closer to the bridge, so there's still hope for them. BRH managed to get an Illinois team on their schedule week 4, cause there's not much for opponents that week. Maybe Kingsford, Munising and Newberry could play teams from Sault Ontario as they're close to the Canadian border, except Kingsford who's far from there.

Do you realize how big Appleton North is? You just don't take a game with anyone to fill a schedule.

I forgot about that, that'll be too big of a school for Munising to play, but good for Marquette though. Wisconsin Dells is like around 400-500 students okay for Munising to play, but I don't think it'll happen.

Burlington Catholic Central has pulled the plug on the rest of their varsity season due to low numbers via injury (had only 18 healthy players after week three).

Potential makeup games for their remaining opponents

Week 7: Marion/Tigerton vs Racine Lutheran
Week 8: Brookfield Academy vs St. Thomas More
Week 9: Appleton North vs Racine St. Catherine's
