Last week's picks were 21-5. We have a couple games moved to Thursday this week because of lack of 8 man officials, so I am splitting the picks into two. Releasing the Thursday picks now. The rest I will get out late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12th

Cedarville (6-1) at Pickford (7-0) - Bridge Alliance Conference
This was the showdown in the BAC. Engadine beat Cedarville last week and kind of wrecked that party didn't they? Cedarville is a good team, but has shown vulnerability here and there this year. Engadine put together a nice second half and upended them for the first time this season last week. Now the Trojans look to get back into first place by knocking off unbeaten Pickford. The Panthers have not really been challenged this year. Engadine gave them their best game, but in the end the Panthers won by 3 scores. I think this may be the best game Pickford gets this regular season. I think they clinch at least a share of the BAC with a win.
Pickford 38 Cedarville 22

Onaway (3-4) at Rudyard (6-1) - Bridge Alliance Conference
How about Rudyard? Are they looking like a team that could finish strong enough to win a share of the BAC this year? I wouldn't bet against them. They haven't lost a game since the opening week. Onaway was beaten by 67 points to the top team in the BAC this week. Look for Rudyard to win easily.
Rudyard 54 Onaway 12

Week 8. Teams in RED are already in the playoffs. (the 8-man teams in red below are not "automatically" in the playoffs, but they have enough wins that they are most likely already in). Results of week 7 and year-to-date follow:

11-man:
week 7: 13 C, 4 W = 76.47%
Y.-T.-D.: 87 C, 41 W = 677.97%

8-man:
week 7: 7 C, 2 W = 77.78%
Y.-T.-D.: 54 C, 9 W = 85.71%

Totals:
week 7: 20 C, 6 W = 76.92%
Y.-T.-D.: 141 C, 50 W = 73.82%

MI vs WI:
week 7 (11): MI 2, WI 0
Y.-T.-D. (11): MI 17, WI 6
week 7 (8): MI 0, WI 0
Y.-T.-D. (8): MI 3, WI 0
Totals (all): MI 2, WI 0
Y.-T.-D. (all): MI 20, WI 6

UP vs LP:
week 7 (11): UP 1, LP 0
Y.-T.-D. (11): UP 6, LP 10
week 7 (8): UP 3, LP 0
Y.-T.-D. (8): UP 22, LP 1
totals (all): UP 4, LP 0
Y.-T.-D.(all): UP 28, LP 11

Thursday Oct. 12th:

Cedarville (6-1) at Pickford (7-0)

The luster on this big matchup was dampened a bit when the Trojans lost to Engadine last week. Still, Cedarville can make up for that with a road win here. Pickford has been running away from everybody all season. There's no reason to think that will change here. Pickford stays unbeaten. Panthers over Trojans.

Onaway (3-4) at Rudyard (6-1)

The Bulldogs are flying under the radar all season. That should change come playoff time. Rudyard is a very dangerous team right now that no one wants to face. The Cardinals are still reeling after being waxed by Pickford last week. This week they lose to yet another U.P. team. Panthers over Cardinals.

Friday Oct. 13th:

Escanaba (6-1) at Oconto (WI) (7-1)

The Eskymos are back in the playoffs. Now they want to secure a home playoff game, or two. They visit the Class C Blue Devils here. Oconto is also in the playoffs in Wisconsin. The Blue Devils play much lesser competition than do the Eskymos, but Escanaba cannot overlook that here. They win if they take care of business here. Eskymos 34, Blue Devils 14.

Kingsford (5-1) at Menominee (5-2)

it's been a while since the Maroons have been on the playoff bubble. In fact, the Maroons have a 21 year streak going of making the playoffs. That could be in jeopardy if they lose this week. That would mean they have to beat an underrated Marquette squad next week. The Flivvers have already made the playoffs and are looking to possibly host a playoff game. The Flivvers play the better defense and that helps them get a big win here. Flivvers 27, Maroons 20.

Marquette (3-4) at Negaunee (4-3)

Yes, the Miners have won 4 in a row. But those opponents are not very good this year. A win here over a Class A school might just be enough to get the Miners an at-large playoff spot this year, then again it may not. The Redmen have been playing good ball despite their record. The visitors get a win here. Redmen 28, Miners 7.

Ogemaw Heights (1-6) at Sault Ste. Marie (1-6)

The Falcons accidently won their first game of the year last week by defeating old rival Tawas. They are playing as an independent, but are trying to look for a conference to fit into. The Blue Devils are glad their GNC schedule is done for the year. They went 0-4 in those games. This week they should be able to get win no. 2 on the year. Blue Devils 19, Falcons 12.

Gladstone (6-1) at Iron Mountain (1-6)

The Braves were brought back down to earth last week in losing to Escanaba. This week they should be able to wrap up the Mid-Pen title all for themselves with a win over the Mountaineers. Iron Mountain was losing big to Kingsford last week. This game will not be close this week for the hosts. Braves 34, Mountaineers 0.

Bark River-Harris (3-4) at Gwinn (2-5)

The Broncos have something going for them that no other team in the state can claim this season: victories over teams from 3 different states. But they are also in danger of missing the playoffs unless they win their last 2 games. The Modeltowner's season has taken a nosedive too. So much so they won't win again this season. Broncos 26, Modeltowners 13.

Ishpeming (2-5) at St. Ignace (1-6)

Both teams here have struggled unexpectedly this year. Now the Hematites have tragedy on their side too. It will be difficult for them to even finish the season now. The Hematites have the better athletes heading into this game and if they come to play, they should get the win. Hematites 18, Saints 6.

Manistique (0-7) at Westwood (6-1)

The Patroits have had 2 weeks to prepare for the winless Emeralds. They received a gift forfeit win from the MHSAA last week from a tragic situation. Westwood is headed to the playoffs and every win helps them to be able to host a playoff game. Add another easy victory to the Patriots season here. Patriots 40, Emeralds 6.

Gogebic (3-4) at Calumet (4-3)

The Miners may not be headed to the playoffs this year, but they are not going quietly this season. They would love to win their 3rd in a row to finish at .500 for the year (they do not have a week 9 game). Calumet really needs this game if they have any plans to make it to the playoffs. They finish with Gladstone next week. Somehow the hosts find a way to hold on and win here. Copper Kings 36, Miners 18.

West Iron County (6-1) at Hancock (6-1)

Congrats go out to the Bulldogs for making the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Now they want something else: a part of the West PAC title this year. To do that they must win here and then beat Houghton next week. The Wykons are the only unbeaten team in league play, and they are also in the playoffs. They would love to win 2 more games to host some playoff games. The hosts have their offense playing at a high level and that should be good enough for a win. Bulldogs 35, Wykons 21.

Houghton (1-6) at Hurley (WI) (4-3)

The Midgets need this game bad this week. A win here and they finish above .500 in the conference. That should get them into the playoffs. The Gremlins may be limited in numbers, but they are not going down without a fight in their games. This should be another close game in the wacky West PAC this year, with the hosts getting a win. Midgets 26, Gremlins 14.

L'Anse (4-3) at Northland Pines (WI) (1-7)

The very promising season the Purple Hornets had going has gone south in a hurry the last 2 weeks in losses in those games. They can still get to the playoffs this year with 2 wins. They might need to only win this week vs Class B Northland Pines. That would give L'Anse some much needed bonus playoff points. It won't be easy, but the visitors get an important road win. Purple Hornets 19, Eagles 14.

Lake Linden-Hubbell (3-3) at Norway (6-1)

The Knights made a season's worth of mistakes in it's loss to Newberry last week. If they want to be able to host a playoff game, they best not have another game like that. The Lakes have turned their season around. They are now on the brink of getting into the playoffs with 1 more win. That is asking alot this week. Norway gets a win here and ties Newberry for the MEC crown. Knights 28, Lakes 14.

Rogers City (2-5) at Newberry (4-2)

The Indians got a huge win at Norway last week. That win assures the Indians of at least a tie for the last MEC title this year. The MEC disbands after this season. The Hurons are having troubles this year and this game will not help them here. Look for the hosts to win this game easily. Indians 38, Hurons 6.

East Jordan (1-6) at Johannesburg-Lewiston (4-3)

The Cardinals need to win their last 2 games to get into the playoffs. 2 of their losses have come to undefeated teams. The Red Devils are nowhere near that good this year. East Jordan only has a win over a winless team. Enough said. Cardinals 40, Red Devils 12.

Gaylord St. Mary (7-0) at Harbor Springs (4-3)

Somehow the Snowbirds keep winning games. Not by all the much, but enough to win. If they keep this up, they should be able to host a few playoff games, for as long as they last in the playoffs. The Rams would love to pull off the upset this week at home but it won't happen. Snowbirds 28, Rams 20.

Inland Lakes (2-5) at Manton (2-5)

The Bulldogs have enjoyed a better season this year than last year, they are still not headed anywhere after the regular season ends. Both of their wins have come against teams with 1 win each. The Rangers play in the much tougher Highland Conference. They will get the win with ease here. Rangers 34, Bulldogs 12.

Carney-Nadeau (2-5) at Stephenson (6-1)

Poor Wolves. They are in the midst of playing the 5 best teams in the conference, which might be perhaps some of the best 5 teams in all of 8-man this season in Michigan. The Eagles are mad about what went down at Rapid River last week. The Wolves are the victims here. Eagles over Wolves.

Forest Park (4-2) at Ontonagon (4-2)

These are the 2 teams that have defeated North Central so far this year. Both of them won in close games. This game comes down the running attack of the Trojans vs the passing game of the Gladiators. With rain in the forecast for the game, that might hinder the passing game a bit. The Trojans running game is healthy for the first time all season (meaning a 4 headed monster at running back). Look for the visitors to get a hard faught win. Trojans over Gladiators.

North Central (4-2) at Rapid River (7-0)

How much longer will the luck last for this year's Rocket club? Can it last all the way thru the playoffs? Most likely not, but then again, they have been blessed with unexpectedly lucky breaks in all of their close games. The Jets may not win the conference this year, but they will not go down easily. In fact, the Jets easily have the better athletes going into this game. They have enough to get a huge road win here. Jets over Rockets.

Phillips (WI) (4-4) at North Dickinson (1-6)

The Nordics just have not gotten into any kind of groove in their first season in 8-man. It also is evident that the Nordics are missing the athletic talent they have enjoyed the last 25 years or so. The Loggers can finish it's first season in 8-man with a winning record. They make the long trip worth it here by getting a road win. Loggers over Nordics.

Charlton Heston Academy (0-7) at Bellaire (3-4)

Believe it or not, the Eagles are still in the hunt for a playoff spot this year. Next week they play Onaway. For this week, they play perhaps the 2nd worst team in the BAC. This should be an easy win for the hosts here. Eagles over Patriots.

Brimley (4-3) at Engadine (5-2)

These 2 long time rivals have football programs headed in opposite directions. The Eagles have made the playoffs 6 straight years, and should be 7 including this year. Brimley last made the playoffs in 2011. While the Bays do have 4 wins this year, they are still light years away from the progress the Eagles have made in 8-man. Engadine gets a win here. Eagles over Bays.

Posen (1-6) at Pellston (0-7)

The Hornets scored the most points in a game last week since a win over Brimley in 2015. They have been slightly better this year than last season, but they still have a ways to go before they win a game. The Vikings have been disappointed in their season. They can shake some disappointment this week with an easy win at home. Vikings over Hornets.

Saturday Oct. 14th:

Superior Central (2-5) at Flint School for the Deaf (0-5)

The Cougars are repaying the favor that the Tartars did last year, when they traveled to Eben to play. Also, this game fills in open dates for both teams for this week. Superior Central may have some bus lag here, but they will have more than enough to get a road win here. Cougars over Tartars.

In talking with some folks on the eastern end, the St Ignace season is not at all "unexpected". Sounds like a few years of rough sledding with the future of 8 man not too far off in the distance.

I will leave it up to the UP experts, but would St. Ignace really turn to 8 man football and still be a Class C team? This is a serious question as Dryden still isn't a Class D team yet and has been ineligible for the playoffs every year since they joined the 8 man football ranks.

It is all relative to how other schools are dropping in the SEN as well, which Dryden has learned as they expected to be Class D by now. St. Ignace is 10/11 teams (tied with another school) counting Dryden from being in Class D. So Iggy still has to drop quite a bit in terms of teams that they have to fall behind.

FYI if Hurley loses to Houghton, they should get in at 3-4 with strong tiebreakers.

Here are the rest of the picks. Got them in despite the long week of work. The games tonight should be a lot of fun. Some really good games out there and the weather looks like it will hold up.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13th

Escanaba (6-1) at Oconto, WI (7-1) - Non Conference
This is an interesting game. Escanaba started the season off a little slow, but has gotten better and better as the season has progressed. This is the team many of us thought they could be. Just a good hard nosed football team with a lot of talent. Oconto is a Class C program that program that was 4-5 last year and lost to an Ishpeming team that did not make the playoffs. This year they have only lost one game. To Southern Door. The same Southern Door team that Menominee beat the doors off a couple weeks ago. Oconto is having a really nice season but this is Class C against a good large Class B team. Escanaba should win this game handily. Here is the issue I have. Remember last year in week 8 when Escanaba layed an egg against a 4-4 Merrill team and lost? That was a good Esky team that was 6-1 at the time. Esky has had these weird lay an egg games the last 3 years. They absolutely need to not have one of them here. They should beat this team easily. Get it done Eskymos.
Escanaba 42 Oconto 12

Kingsford (5-1) at Menominee (5-2) - Great Northern Conference
Game of the week here. These two programs have had some battles over the years but it has been all Menominee the last 5 years. Coach Noha is 6-1 against the Flivvers and has won the last 6 in a row against them. Last year I thought this was gonna be a good game. It wasn't. The Maroons owned the LOS and the Flivvers were never in the game. Every year is different but this is the measuring stick. Menominee comes in with a couple losses this year. To a really good Fondy team and of course Escanaba. Turnovers and penalties have hurt the Maroons. Both uncharacteristic for their program. Kingsford comes in playing good football. This team seems to be very resilient. No obstacles seem to bother them. They just play hard and take the game to their opponents, but most of all they seem to make the plays that are there. I am expecting a good game here, as baring injury from either squad will be the first of two games they will see each other this year. Kingsford has a solid defense, but the Maroons very potent offense will get their scores. Kingsford's offense will score as well. In the end its the play on the LOS that will determine this one. I like what I see there from Kingsford so far. The Flivvers break their 6 game losing streak to the Maroons.
Kingsford 28 Menominee 21

Marquette (3-4) at Negaunee (4-3) - Non Conference
Marquette is the most underappreciated team in the UP. Their 3-4 record does not tell their story. I keep telling you they are a good team! They are. How about Negaunee. They have 4 straight wins to get themselves legitimately back in the playoff picture. Young team getting some confidence. Scary. The Miners need to beat the two best teams in the Marquette area to get into the playoffs. The best team they will face is not next week, it's this week. I like the Redmen to win this rivalry game on the road.
Marquette 38 Negaunee 24

Ogemaw Heights (1-6) at Sault Ste Marie (1-6) - Non Conference
Two former Big North teams here. Both got out of that conference for good reason. Both not Class A schools. The path taken after getting out of that conference is vastly different though. The Sault has been playing better lately, we just can't tell. They have been playing some very tough teams. I can see improvement in them because of it, just not in the win column. Ogemaw Height has the same record as the Blue Devils, but they are not as good of a team. Ogemaw Heights has been playing weak competition and getting beat anyway. If the Sault can play like they are capable of they will win this game easily.
Sault Ste Marie 26 Ogemaw Heights 7

Gladstone (6-1) at Iron Mountain (1-6) - Mid Peninsula Conference
Gladstone suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of rival Escanaba last week. The Braves may have lost but that game will do more for preparing them for the playoffs than any of their other games combined. The Braves needed to face that kind of competition. Iron Mountain lost to its rival last week as well. The Mountaineers are near the end of a long brutal season. The IM kids play hard and are very chippy (unless it was just the rivalry that brought it out), but they lack the edge it takes to control that emotion at times. Turnovers and penalties plague this team. Gladstone should have no problem with Iron Mountain here. The Mountaineers will be vastly different next year however.
Gladstone 48 Iron Mountain 7

Bark River-Harris (3-4) at Gwinn (2-5) - Non Conference
Gwinn was eliminated from the playoffs last week by the up and coming Hancock Bulldogs. Still you can see how hard the Modeltowners compete despite whatever they are facing. Don't sleep on this program as long as Coach Brown is there. He has turned this program around. Bark River has a nice team. They are in a funk right now though. They have lost 4 of their last 5 and are on the brink of missing the playoffs. That is the bad news. The good news is they still can make the playoffs. Just win your last two games Broncos. Bark River is one of only 3 Class D football teams that play 11 man football in the UP. 5 wins will be enough to make it, I almost guarantee it. This will be a good tough game. I am picking the Broncos to break out of their funk and earn a tough win over an underrated Gwinn team.
Bark River 14 Gwinn 12

Ishpeming (2-5) at St Ignace (1-6) - Non Conference
Where to start here. The community of Ishpeming was dealt a huge blow last week with the tragic death of one of their varsity football players. Now there is no better leader of young men in place to deal with this better than Coach Olson. It still doesn't make it easier on anyone in that community, even a Coach who has dealt with more than his fair share of heartbreak. Football just isn't that important right now, yet bonding together with the community at a football event may be. St Ignace knows all about tragedies involving one of their own. They lost a great teammate in Mitchel Snyder a few years back. They have walked in shoes nobody wishes anyone to walk in. This game is more about starting to heal than winning a football game. Both teams win here.
Ishpeming 20 St Ignace 14

Manistique (0-7) at Westwood (6-1) - Mid Peninsula Conference
Let me first start out with Manistique. I have seen them play. They are not 0-7. This team looks vastly better than I have seen them the last few years. They can run the ball and their fundamentals look good. They just don't have a complete team yet. Stick with it Emeralds. This is the right track, despite all the losses this year. Westwood didn't play last week. A tragedy in Ishpeming changed everything that seemed important. This week the Patriots try to pick up their game again. Westwood has a really nice team and will be fun to watch in the playoffs. They will win this game.
Westwood 46 Manistique 12

Gogebic (3-4) at Calumet (4-3) - WestPAC Conference
How about the WestPAC conference? Entertaining this year to say the least. You never know what your going to get. Gogebic was a team early in the season that could not play an entire game of football. They would have that lapse and lose every time. The last 2 weeks? Different story. The blow out L'Anse and shutout a good Bark River team. Right now Gogebic could beat anyone in the WestPAC if they brought that kind of game. Calumet went through their own dry spell this season. The Copper Kings have been wildly inconsistent, but are in position to possibly make the playoffs? They are absolutely going to need to get to 6 wins to do that. This program will not make it on playoff points. They don't play enough Class B schools. Should be a fantastic game. Who wins? Who the hell knows.
Calumet 14 Gogebic 7

West Iron County (6-1) at Hancock (6-1) - WestPAC Conference
Game of the week in the WestPAC. Heck, game of the year in this conference. Hancock is having a really fun season. I am thrilled for them. Really great to see a program like this turn it around and the hockey players play football!! Life is way too short to miss the good stuff and concentrating on one sport is the dumbest thing that has ever evolved in todays sports. These are two contrasting styles going at it here. Hancock plays a wide open no huddle fast paced game. West Iron plays a traditional hard nosed here it comes try and stop it game. Both very good at what they do. Both headed to the playoffs. Both want that conference title in the worst way. I have no idea how this game will turn out. Battle of whose style ends up superior in the end. I'm going with the storybook season. The Hancock Bulldogs tie West Iron for the conference lead with one game to play.
Hancock 35 West Iron County 28

Houghton (1-6) at Hurley (4-3) - WestPAC Conference
Houghton has turned things around. The Gremlins are playing hard and well. They look nothing like the team they were to start the season. More kids in that school should take notice of how the kids on this football team play. It's fun to watch. The hockey players should put their panties away and play some football next year too. Just sayin. Hurley had a really good road trip last week and is now looking at a possible playoff birth. A win over Houghton would probably clinch it. A loss puts it in the hands of the WIAA and that is not something the Midgets want. This should be an intense game, but I give Hurley the advantage. They are playing at home. They just need to make a few conversions this time.
Hurley 22 Houghton 20

L'Anse (4-3) at Northland Pines (1-7) - WestPAC Conference
L'Anse lost its best end and they are falling apart. It doesn't make sense to me, but to be honest I do not know the make up of the team all that well. If the Purple Hornets are to make the playoffs they have to turn this thing around pronto. Northland Pines is 1-7, but they beat one of the hottest teams in the WestPAC a few weeks ago. You can't overlook anyone in the WestPAC. If you do, your gonna get beat. L'Anse is in playoff mode. Win or go home at this point. I see a win. I better see a win.
L'Anse 20 Northland Pines 12

Lake Linden-Hubbell (3-3) at Norway (6-1) - Mid Eastern Conference
Is there a lot of hot and cold teams right now in the UP? Absolutely. What else can explain the Small 5? Lake Linden is hot, red hot. After starting out with 3 straight losses to good teams they have ripped off 3 straight wins against good teams. This team guts it out. Well coached team. Norway is a really good team and when they play their game, there may be no better Small 5 team in the UP. Problem is the Knights have been plagued by some inconsistencies here and there. Last week was the first time those inconsistencies cost them a game. It's where you go from there. Do you let that loss tear you apart or does it motivate you to pick your game up a notch? Hard to say. I think the Knights rebound but this will likely be a tough game.
Norway 20 Lake Linden-Hubbell 16

Rogers City (2-5) at Newberry (4-2) - Non Conference
Huge win for Newberry last week. Enormous win. They are now in great position to make the playoffs. Win one of the last two games and they are in. Win them both and they could possibly get a home game if they get a little help. Up first for Newberry is Class D Rogers City who only has two wins against two bad teams. Welcome to the playoffs Newberry Indians.
Newberry 32 Rogers City 6

East Jordan (1-6) at Johannesburg-Lewiston (4-3) - NMFL Legacy Conference
East Jordan is the worst team in the NMFL. Sorry for not sugar coating that. Joburg may be the second best team in the NMFL and I think Snooze is sleeping on his playoff projections. Joburg will make it. Them making it will push Newberry up to a home game. See if you read the NMFL predictions you can learn something interesting.
Joburg 40 East Jordan 8

Gaylord St Mary (7-0) at Harbor Springs (4-3) - NMFL Legacy Conference
Remember when last week's Joburg-GSM game was for the NMFL Legacy championship? It was in my opinion. That said Harbor Springs has snuck into this game unbeaten in conference play. Thing is they have not played the two best teams in the NMFL. Their biggest win of the season was against St Ignace to this point. I do not see Harbor Springs winning this game or the next one to tell you the truth. Gaylord St Mary to clinch at least a portion of the NMFL with this one.
Gaylord St Mary 36 Harbor Springs 20

Indian River Inland Lakes (2-5) at Manton (2-5) - Non Conference
Last but not least of the NMFL picks is this game between Inland Lakes and Manton. Let's face it, Inland Lakes season is already a success. They have 2 more wins than they had last season. Manton has faced a brutal schedule. Frankfort, Lake City, Beal City, etc. That explains the 2-5 record. Manton beat Joburg in week 2. That will explain the lopsided win in this one.
Manton 38 Inland Lakes 0

Carney-Nadeau (2-5) at Stephenson (6-1) - Western Eight Conference
Stephenson suffered loss number one last week to that pesky Rapid River team. I was surprised, but dang it Rapid River has been doing that to everyone. The most concerning part of the loss is the injury to their RB Glover. Hopefully that wasn't serious. Many people still think Stephenson is the most dangerous team in the UP in 8 man football and that loss was a fluke. Carney is nowhere near the league Stephenson is in right now. This is probably a big rivalry, but the Eagles are way too much for Carney. Especially when they are angry.
Stephenson 58 Carney-Nadeau 6

Forest Park (4-2) at Ontonagon (4-2) - Western Eight Conference
This has all the makings of a good one. Ontonagon enjoyed a long road trip and stepped out of the WEC to play a non conference game last week. Easy win. Forest Park took the week off to fully heal up some of their players. Are the Trojans really getting healthy as the playoffs are looming? Uh oh... This should be a good game. I like the Trojans at this point. I think they will be a tough out in the playoffs. I am hoping Ontonagon joins them in the playoffs. The Gladiators are also a good team and deserve to be there.
Forest Park 38 Ontonagon 28

North Central (4-2) at Rapid River (7-0) - Western Eight Conference
Rapid River has to be the toughest team in the entire UP to figure out. They seem to play to their level of competition, no matter what that level is. I've doubted them all year quite honestly and all they have done is beat Forest Park, Ontonagon and Stephenson. By a combined total of 8 points! That is just unheard of in 8 man football. It blows my mind. This week they get another home game against yet another great team. The defending champs roll into town needing to finish strong to make the playoffs. This is a good North Central team and I expect another war of a game in Rapid River. But I am all done doubting the Rockets. I will embrace it. Rockets win by 2 points and put the defending champs on the brink of the end of their season.
Rapid River 34 North Central 32

Phillips, WI (4-4) at North Dickinson (1-6) - Non Conference
Is Phillips in the Western 8 conference? This is their 3rd game against teams in it. Both of these programs are in their first year of 8 man football. Phillips has had some success, North Dickinson has not. The Nordics picked a tough conference to get initiated into the 8 man game. Phillips can agree. They have been beaten by the two WEC teams they have faced as well. I like Phillips here. The Nordics are really struggling right now.
Phillips 48 North Dickinson 6

Charlton Heston (0-7) at Bellaire (3-4) - Bridge Alliance Conference
Will Charlston Heston win a game this year? Not this week they wont. Bellaire evens its record. Look out for this Bellaire team next year. Most of them return.
Bellaire 50 Charlton Heston 14

Brimley (4-3) at Engadine (5-2) - Bridge Alliance Conference
Great turnaround season by Brimley after not even playing last year. They will finish with 4 wins and that is something they can build off for next year. Engadine was very impressive last week with a huge win over Cedarville. Good halftime adjustments turned that game around and more importantly their season. Engadine looks to finish strong and peak just in time for the playoffs. Look out for the Eagles.
Engadine 42 Brimley 22

Posen (1-6) at Pellston (0-7) - Bridge Alliance Conference
Looking for a way in which Pellston might actually win a game this year. Posen has not been good this year. They have been close to winning a few times outside of the Charlton Heston game, but have come up short against teams that quite frankly are not that good. Now Pellston scored 28 points on Brimley last week. That's impressive. I just don't know if it was in garbage time or not. I have to take Posen here. Pellston is looking forwared to their matchup with Charlton Heston to end the season.
Posen 36 Pellston 20

Superior Central (2-5) at Flint School for the Deaf (0-5) - Great Northern Conference
Superior Central absolutely throttled North Dickinson last week. We have been saying it all year. Superior Central is the best 2 win 8 man team in the State. After this one are they the best 3 win 8 man team in the State?
Superior Central 54 Flint School for the Deaf 14

You got your teams mixed up their UPFootball. Escanaba lost to Merrill not Menominee last year. Didn't help Merrill in the seedings at all though.

Yes, I posted then proof read and corrected. Was time crunched this week. Hopefully I didn't do anything else stupid. Lack of time and sleep this week unfortunately.
