Alcona is forfeiting vs Sault High due to lack of available players. They will play JV only at 6 PM on Friday.

Let Sault Ste. Marie play Negaunee this week....neither Manistique or Alcona will win a game this year, therefore no bonus points for their opponents.

That's a great idea, Sault Ste. Marie had an away game with Lincoln Alcona 179 miles away, Negaunee is 176 miles away. The Negaunee game was a home game, sounds like SSM should point the bus West instead of South and go to the iron town and play some football!!!!

Sault High scheduling this game with Alcona is why they will never get any respect from U.P. schools.

Postby Up Football Fan » Thu Sep 13, 2018 7:27 pm

WEEK 4 Shame on Sault Ste. Marie and Negaunee for not getting together this week to play a game. Results for week 3 and year to day follow:

11-man:

week 3: 12 C, 4 W = 75.0%
overall: 36 C, 15 W = 70.59%

8-man:

week 3: 7 C, 0 W = 100%
overall: 16 C, 5 W = 76.19%

Totals:

week 3: 19 C, 4 W = 82.6%
overall: 52 C, 20 W = 72.22%

Friday Sept. 14th:

Escanaba (2-1) at Marquette (1-2)

The Redmen got off the schneid last week by getting a nice win over the Soo. Escanaba is coming off 2 close wins in a row. In both games, the defense for the Eskymos came up big late in the games to preserve those wins. This week the same defense holds off the Redmen passing attack to let the hosts win. Eskymos 28, Redmen 17.

Gladstone (2-1) at Kingsford (0-3)

The Braves were recipients of 6 turnovers by Menominee last week in their 14-0 win over the Maroons. They won't be that lucky this week against the winless Flivvers. Gladstone is nowhere near the quality of team that Kingsford has already faced this season. Look for Kingsford to finally get their first win on the year here. Flivvers 21, Braves 20.

Menominee (0-3) at Medford (WI) (2-2)

The host Raiders have won 2 in a row and lead the Wisconsin Great Northern Conference. Menominee is currently in last in the Michigan Great Northern Conference. Turnovers have just killed the Maroons in every game this year. Protecting the ball this week allows for the visitors to get win no. 1. Maroons 22, Raiders 14.

Sault Ste. Marie (1-2) at Alcona (0-3)

Blue Devils get an easy win over a Tiger team with numbers issues. Blue Devils 1, Tigers 0 (Forfeit)

Gogebic (0-3) at Bark River-Harris (0-3)

Few folks expected this game to be between 2 winless teams. More was expected from both before the season started. The Miners have only scored 6 points each of their games. The Broncos have had some better luck with the offense which is good enough to get the win here. Broncos 34, Miners 14.

Iron Mountain (2-1) at Norway (2-1)

The Knights defense let them down last week in their loss to unbeaten Ishpeming. They host archrival Iron Mountain, which is coming off it's own easy win over Houghton. The Mountaineers have some talent this year, it's just getting them play together at all times. This should be a close game with the visitors scoring the last TD to get the win. Mountaineers 27, Knights 20.

Munising (1-2) at L'Anse (2-1)

With a little luck, the Purple Hornets would be unbeaten right now.. Last week the Mustangs put it all together to rout Bark River-Harris. This is shaping up to be a very good game. Look for the hosts to score late to pull out the victory. Purple Hornets 28, Mustangs 21.

Gwinn (3-0) at Hancock (2-1)

The Bulldogs lost a close game at Negaunee last week. Still, this is a pretty good Hancock team with sights on the playoffs this year. Gwinn out lasted Lake Linden-Hubbell last week to remain unbeaten. Another long trek to Copper Country this week will not end the same for Gwinn this week. Bulldogs 33, Modeltowners 14.

Lake Linden-Hubbell (0-3) at Houghton (0-3)

These 2 teams might have the same record, but they are also in different divisions of the West PAC. Houghton has been shut out twice 42-0, and lost by a point in their other game. The Lakes at least have shown to be somewhat competitive in all of their games. They have enough to take this game. Lakes 34, Gremlins 13.

Manistique (0-3) at Negaunee (1-2)

Miners get the easy win over a Manistique team that forfeits for the 2nd time this year. Miners 1, Emeralds 0 (Forfeit)

Ishpeming (3-0) at Westwood (2-1)

Two very good teams are going at it this week, and the crowd turnout should be huge. The Patriots came just a PAT conversion short of tying Calumet last week. Ishpeming has had 2 easy games plus a forfeit win so far. The Patriots have been battle tested already and they hold off their rivals here. Patriots 15, Hematites 14.

Calumet (3-0) at West Iron County (3-0)

The Copper Kings got a huge win last week over a very good Westwood team. Now they host the pesky Wykons, who have given Calumet some great games over the years. These 2 teams have played to a 20-20-1 record over the years. This might be a nonconference game, it still will go a long way to where these teams fall playoff wise. The visitors get a nice defensive stand in the 4th quarter to get the win. Copper Kings 21, Wykons 14.

Newberry (0-3) at Gaylord St. Mary (1-1)

The hard luck Indians have played in 3 close games but can't get over the hump. Those 3 opponents have a combined record of 7-2. The Snowbirds enjoyed a week off last week to get ready for this game. If the visitors play anything close to their other games, they should get the win here. Indians 26, Snowbirds 13.

East Jordan (0-3) at Charlevoix (0-3)

Fans will be seeing Red in this game. Charlevoix is a surprising 0-3 so far this year, which includes a shutout loss to rival St. Ignace last week. East Jordan has had even more issues this year. Those won't be fixed this week either. The hosts get their first win. Red Rayders 29, Red Devils l6.

Inland Lakes (0-3) at Harbor Springs (3-0)

The Rams continue to surprise so far this season. They are 3-0 for the first time since the 1999 season. The Bulldogs look to be headed for a winless season this year. Not much for their fans to look forward to. The Rams win again this week. Rams 40, Bulldogs 8.

Johannesburg-Lewiston (2-1) at St. Ignace (2-1)

The Saints are vastly improved this year and and a win this week would make them the favorites in the NMFL Legacy this year. The Cardinals themselves are looking to win the league themselves. They make the trek across the bridge this week, but return home without a win. Saints 28, Cardinals 14.

Cedarville (2-1) at North Dickinson (0-3)

The Nordics return home this week after 2 long road trips. The offense for the Nordics has disppeared in those 2 games having scored no touchdowns. They host a quality Trojan team this week in a crossover game. The Trojans may be making the long trek this week, but they return home with a nice win. Trojans over Nordics.

Engadine (2-1) at Rudyard (2-1)

Rudyard is still wondering what hit them last week at North Central. The Bulldogs gave up 76 points in their loss. Being without their starting QB also hurt the Bulldog's offense. The Eagles had their way in it's romp over North Dickinson. Look for the visitors to continue their running game this week in a win. Eagles over Bulldogs.

Rapid River (2-1) at Pickford (3-0)

Despite being outgained by almost 100 yards and far less time of possession, the Panthers somehow pulled off a win at Forest Park last week. The Rockets toyed with an outmaned Carney-Nadeau squad last week. This should be a fairly good game this week, with the hosts outscoring their guests. Panthers over Rockets.

Carney-Nadeau (0-3) at Florence (WI) (3-0)

The Bobcats have been quite impressive so far this season. Not bad for a 1st year 8-man team. The Wolves are still struggling and are young again. Still, they play every game with hopes of improving themselves. This game will go to the hosts. Bobcats over Wolves.

Stephenson (3-0) at Forest Park (1-2)

The Trojans are still wondering how they let their game against Pickford get away from them. Dropped passes really hurt the Trojans last week. This week they face an Eagle squad that has not really impressed folks despited being unbeaten. If the Trojan receivers can catch the ball this week, they should be able to get a nice home win. Trojans over Eagles.

North Central (2-1) at Ontonagon (1-2)

The Jets turned it on against Rudyard last week. They scored 44 points in the 1st quarter then coasted the rest of the way. Ontonagon fell short against Superior Central at home. This looks like a runaway again this week for the visiting Jets. Jets over Gladiators.

Saturday Sept. 15th:

Brimley (1-2) at Superior Central (2-1)

The Cougars earned a nice big win at Ontonagon last week to go 2-0 in crossover games this year. This will be their first home conference game this season. The Bays gave Stephenson all they had last week in a loss. They fight again this week but again will come up short. Cougars at Bays.
