In D1, Bay Port just defeated Appleton North 31-21. Throughout the game, Bay Port couldn’t stop the Lightning’s passing game while Appleton North couldn’t stop the Pirates run game. Bay Port has some injuries at key positions but they have an exceptional junior class. Their junior QB played super.

The Pirates were able to work the clock with their run game. Nursing a 7 pt lead late in the 4th Bay Port converted a 4th and 7 then did something for only the 3rd time under Coach Westerman’s tenure as head coach..they kicked a field goal.

Appleton North attempted the ole Hook and Lateral but fumbled the ball away to Bay Port, who eventually drove down picking up a 1st and goal at the Lightning 1 yd line. Pirates took a couple kneel downs to burn the clock.

Bay Port will host Kimbetly next week. Kimberly defeated Neenah 7-3. Just about a month ago Kimberly pounded Neenah.

Also the Bay Port announcers said Fond du Lac defeated Arrowhead 28-24,

In my personal favorite division- D2- Pulaski scores in the 3rd and was leading River Falls 27-21 in the 4th.

So anxious for amped0808 to post the scores ; )

PS Red Wings lost 2-1 :x

Thanks for the scores amped0808!

I can’t get over how many times GB Notre Dame Academy plays West DePere in D3 come playoff time. Quite a playoff rivalry but it should end soon as West DePere will become D2.

Guess we’ll see where Bay Port stands come Level 3.

Re: 2018 WIAA Playoffs

Well the 3 remaining teams in our immediate area's conference were eliminated in Level 3 this past Friday.

In D3, Green Bay Notre Dame lost to West DePere 17-3. In a couple years West DePere is going to be a force when they join the FRCC. They will be jumping from D3 to D2.

In D2, an up and coming Pulaski football program lost to Marshfield 32-29. Marshfield kicked the winning field goal as time expired. Been hearing a lot of great things what has been going on up there in Pulaski. They appear to have a bright future.

In D1, Bay Port fell to Kimberly 38-20. Bay Port competed the first 3 quarters. The Pirates actually led a couple times in the game too.

Bay Port had some huge costly penalties that hurt them. Both on offense and defense. Bay Port also couldn't overcome some officiating calls that didn't go their way.

The Pirates could move the ball on the Papermakers- especially on the ground during the first 3 quarters.

On the other side, Bay Port was putting 8 men in the box and shutting down Kimberly's running game...but where Bay Port couldn't stop Kimberly was through the air. Bay Port had lost 2 key starters and the back ups struggled in man to man coverages. The Kimberly receivers had both height and athleticism over the Pirates DB's and that was a back breaker.

Late in the 3rd Bay Port couldn't overcome 2 more key injuries that occured on offense. One back who had been tearing it up started suffering leg cramps and he didn't see the field as much, then Bay Port lost their center.

One key moment that stands out was when the backup center snapped the ball- hitting a back in motion- Kimberly recovered and the momentum shifted from there.

Just wanted to share this to reinforce to all back ups the importance of "Next man up."

The WIAA has their semi finals this week.

Watched that Kimberly vs Fond du Lac game on TV. It was played at UW-Oshkosh.

It was an outstanding game. Both teams very well coached and disciplined. Very few penalties.

After defeating a very good Rice Lake team who come from a good conference...West DePere is now playing for another D3 championship. The Phantoms are one of the few public schools that have had much success against these private schools in the playoffs. Guess we'll see what happens down in Camp Randall.

Otherwise we see a lot of the same programs, don't we?

WI has had a lot of the same programs as contenders for the last 20 yrs. You can almost always count on Arrowhead, Milwaukee Marquette, Homestead, FdL Springs, Marshfield, Edgar, Stratford, and probably a few I'm forgetting to be there year in and year out.
It takes 5 seconds - 5 seconds of decision; 5 seconds to realize your purpose here on the planet; it takes 5 seconds to realize that it's time to move, it's time to get down with it. I give you a testimonial - THE MC5!
