Blast 28
Bucs 0

I will get the details on here later today.

The Blast will play the Chippewa Valley Predators in the Eastern Conference Championship game. The game will most likely be in Powers, unless the Blast can find a different field to play on. Just two weeks ago the Blast beat the Predators with the help of that unbelievable play with 10 seconds left in Eau Claire. It will be interesting to see how the Predators perform on the road in this game. Almost all of their games have been at home this year.

The Blast scored first with 4:12 remaining in the first quarter on a 6 yard run by Drew Buyarski. The Levi Jarvi PAT attempt was good making the first quarter score 7 – 0 in favor of the Blast.
The game was one where the Blast defense completely stymied the Buc offense. By game’s end the Bucs were using their third string QB.
In the second quarter with 12:33 remaining Jeff Taff scampered into the end zone. Levi Jarvi was good on his PAT try. With 2: 41 remaining in the second quarter Jeff Taff caught a 4 yard Simkins pass. Again Levi Jarvi was good on the PAT, making the half time score 21- 0 in front of the biggest crowd in Powers this year. It was a great game if you were a Blast fan.
No one scored in the third quarter.
In the 4th quarter, with 4:42 remaining on the clock, Jonas Olson Scored on a 22 yard burst. The Jarvi PAT was good.
In all the Blast rushed for 274 yards on 35 carries, about an 8 yard per average.
The passing game garnered its share of yards, picking up 94 yards on 4 completions. In all the offense accounted for 368 yards.
Defensively it was a team effort with 20 players contributing on defense among the leaders were Tony Mc Carthy with 10 tackles and a SAC, Matt Mainville with 9 tackles, Jon Gorzinski with 7 tackles, Tim McCarthy with 6 tackles and a SAC. See stats sheet for more contributions. Tyler Hill played offense for the most part but was still successful picking up 3 tackles in a back up role on defense. Tyrell Denniston picked up 4 tackles in his special teams effort.
Ty Hartung produced 96 yards on 2 punts. Ed Mierzejewski gained 22 yards on the Bucs only kick off. Levi Jarvi was good on his 4 PAT’s, his only work for the evening.
Ty Hartung had a 50 yard average on 5 punts.
Drew Buyarski led all rushers with 91 yards on 12 carries followed by Jeff Taff with 66 yards on 5 carries.
Chippewa Falls the next opponent Saturday, the 22nd of July, narrowly beat the Oakdale Outlaws 21-19 with 8 seconds remaining on a 4th and 8 effort with 8 seconds in the game. Next Saturday’s game will be the second match up with the Chippewa Valley Predators in two weeks.
In a game a week ago with the Predators, the Blast prevailed scoring a final TD in the last ten seconds.
The Buc match up marked about equal results. In a game in Norway on June 10th the final score was 31 – 7.
Credit the team with good play from both the defense and the offense. A number of players returned to the line up making for good depth on both sides of the ball. Jon Bell missed the game because of an injury to his shoulder suffered while participating in some non-football activity in Marquette this past week.
