The UP Arctic Blast has a new player registration located on our home page.

If you are out of high school then you ar eligable to play for us. It does not wreck any NCAA eligability.

Our home field is in Powers, MI but next year we may be playing games around the UP.

I would strongly advise anyone who thinks they may be interested to at least fill out the registration to recieve information on the team. You do not have to be an all-star to check out the team. I was a 30 year old rookie, who hadn't played a down in 10 years, and had the best experience of my athletic life. I was able to at least contribute on special teams. This is a great group of guys who you can have a lot of fun with, and who can also teach you a lot. Please register and give it a try, you'll never know what could happen if you don't!

Thirty years old and playing tackle football! I'm impressed-and curious. Were you the kicker? That is about the only spot I could play at that age and still be able to get out of bed in the morning. All kidding aside, I think it is great that you can still compete with the young guns. It is so hard to replicate those kind of competitive experiences after our ball playing days are over.

We have a lot older then him playing. One guy on the team is 56 and he plays on the line. We also have quite a few who are in their mid 30's and still the best in the league at their position.

Truly impressive. I guess staying physically fit is the fountain of youth. Much respect to the old dogs in the trenches.

That's gotta be Uncle Mike! Will he be back for another year at age 57?

I think Uncle Mike will play after I'm dead and buried 30 years from now. Good turnout on Saturday, couple new faces. Let's hope they continue to turnout for the season.

Any chance Buyarski will play? I know he took a teaching job in Lower Michigan. I was wondering if there was any chance he would come back to the UP for the summer? What other players did the Blast lose from last season?

Buyarski plans on moving up here and playing after school is done. There are only a couple of key players that may be missing:

Jon Bell - Moved to Atlanta and last time I heard he had a tryout with an arena team

Jake Simkins - May be a part time player but as of right now it doesn't look like he will be our QB

Leo Gorzinsi - Retired for the 4th year in a row last year but may still make a return

It will be hard to replace these guys but hopefully the UP talent will pull through and we will fill these positions
