Large and small, cut the 16 teams in half by enrollment.

Guessing it will look like this (cut and paste from scoopnscore' s post U.P. Power is dead...thread)

Large:
*Hancock 584
*Gogebic 448
*Negaunee 405
*Houghton 404
*Calumet 396
*Lanse 351
*Westwood 342
*Manistique 342

Small:
*Ishpeming 311
*Iron Mountain 303
*Gwinn 272
*West Iron 245
*Norway 230
*Munising 200
*Bark River 197
*LLH 151

Trying to project who the two cross over opponents will be. Figure Negaunee will have Ishpeming and Iron Mountain?

Otherwise I'm stumped.

It doesn't look like that. Iron Mountain's cross over games are Norway and Bark River.

Guessing one side looks just like the MPC.

Everything is basically the same for the former MPC teams except Negaunee and Iron Mountain got to get out of their rivalries with Marquette and Kingsford.

Looking at IM's schedule, they are in the large division. Manistique is probably in the small.

I have to believe that the Redman and Flivvers are ON FIRE with rage right now.
Not just having the rivalry gone...(which is a HUGE mistake) but now Week 7 (Rivalry Week?) is now an open hole.
Marquette and Kingsford already have a tough enough time getting games much less not being able to play teams 1 mile and 12 miles away.

Negaunee could save the rivalry and fill a hole. Join the GNC.

Yes you are correct.

Negaunee wants nothing to do with the GNC. They have turned down offers from the GNC for games for decades in football.

FWIW...

There was a time period down here there were 10 teams in the Bay Conference...Bay Port, Pulaski, Ashwaubenon, DePere, Shawano, Seymour, West DePere, Marinette, New London and Clintonville. Sounds like a locked in football schedule correct? It wasn’t!

One school would go out and find a NC game so another Bay team- Marinette- could play Menominee for the M & M game. I don’t know what the play off criteria was back then in Wisconsin, but I remember this happening.

Then the WIAA moved Clintonville out and the Truckers went out and...ah heck I don’t know! Any Clintonville Truckers fans out there????

There had to have been a happy ending because the WIAA got involved.
