St Ignace Football Referee dies during game

Postby quarterbackgr » Mon Apr 28, 2014 5:53 pm

Does anybody remember back on September 22, 1989 during a Rogers City-St.Ignace game where a referee died during the game in the third quarter? Eerily on the same day as Leslie Ann Pluhar was blown off the Mackinac Bridge

Sure do remember. Listening to the game when it happened and since I have crossed the bridge 100's of times, I would say I was just starting on the bridge from the South when the car went over.
The future is what is in store for you today, yesterday is a memory.

I was at the game. I was quite young when it happened but I remember it well. St. Ignace was playing Rogers City. The date was September 22, 1989. The date is memorable because this is the same night the Yugo went over the Mackinac Bridge. Needless to say, it was a weird night. After seeing some poor man die while refereeing a football game and then hearing word that a car went over the bridge, made for an eerie night.

I know this is an old topic, but just stumbled upon it. My dad actually did the radio call of that game. He kept the cassette of that one at home.
