I am a long-standing MCC fan, and was at the semi-final game in Traverse City. I was very impressed with St. Ignace and their never-give-up style of play. Just when I thought I could breathe a sigh of relief at the end of the third quarter, we saw our 20-0 lead turn to 20-12. That was impressive, and a bit unnerving. MCC was able to use their speed and break a few long runs in the crazy fourth quarter to pull it out. The five-touchdown fourth quarter was quite a contrast with the scoreless first quarter.

My most sincere condolences go out to the St. Ignace team and players, knowing how they lost Mitchell Snyder to a motor vehicle collision with an intoxicated driver. My son played high school football about 10 years ago, and as a parent, it is our worst nightmare to have a child injured or killed. Fortunately, the football team at St. Ignace served as a community-uniting event that helped to ease the pain of the tremendous loss. I hope and pray for healing for all of the St. Ignace community after the terrible loss of life. It will take time, and Mitchell will never be forgotten.

I also know that some MCC students, when they first heard of the tragic death, sent sympathy cards to St. Ignace. There are some very classy young men and women in our world, and they give hope to all of us for our future.
