Notice that Cedarville, Pickford, Superior Central and Ontonagon have open dates. Don't know if they filled them yet or not. So, Carney Nadeau, North Dickinson and North Central are playing Florence WI this season. Good fill up for NC to get a full 9-game schedule. Forest Park also has a full schedule as well. I'm assuming Cedarville and Pickford are playing a downstate school to fill their schedule. Let's see how the season goes, but it's spring sports season right now with baseball, softball, golf and track & field.

8 Man teams with open dates won't be able to pick up Wisconsin schools on week 9, that is the first week of the playoffs. Finally an 8 Man tourney!

With that being the case, perhaps the conference could do the schedule over again so all the teams have week 9 conference games or do that next year.

There are 4 or 5 schools in Wisconsin that won't be eligible for the playoffs due to enrollment(Gibraltar, WI Heights, Phillips, Menominee Indian & Washburn/Bayfield). Phillips still has 2 open weeks in WI, so I'm sure they could possibly play a WI week 10 game against Ontonagon in MI week 9 to help fill the schedule.

True, but those games aren't official games in Wisconsin. Would the MHSAA consider them actual games, when the WIAA doesn't? You can't schedule the week 10 games until after the regular season ends, might not be enough time for the MHSAA to consider them.

By rule the MHSAA has a cut off date that games can be scheduled and count for CPA purposes. If I recall the cut off date is sometime in September.

This is in the 2017 8 man football rules and regulation link:

(10) Games arranged/contracted after Sept. 16 may count toward playoff points if the agreement to play is the result of game cancellations by previously contracted opponents for reasons of health or lack of available players and subject to MHSAA approval.

So I would imagine that Sept. 16th might have been the cut off date last year.

The teams should leave the out of state games as scheduled in my comments above.

Anybody know who Pickford, Cedarville and Superior Central will be playing on their open dates? I'm guessing Cedarville and Pickford will be playing a lower peninsula team to fill up their open dates. SC can possibly schedule a Wisconsin school week 8 or a troll team.

The schedules might be switched around the next season, so all the teams have a game for week 9.

Notice Cedarville picked up lower Michigan opponent Ashley for week 3 according to the Michigan-football.com website. Still yet to find out Pickford and Superior Centrals opponent for their open dates.

Think there's a few teams in Wisconsin that Superior Central could possibly schedule. Down a little North by Milwaukee, and maybe by Central and northwestern Wisconsin, for example North Central played Luck in Prentice a few years ago and creamed them. Mid Peninsula played Three Lakes one time. Anyways, don't know which teams in Wisconsin have the same week open as SC, perhaps maybe a few lower Peninsula teams might be open too that week.

Ontonagon should try and contact the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf for a game in week 9.

https://msad.msa.state.mn.us/

The Trojans have been known to play non-conference games against 8-man teams in northwestern Wisconsin in many years.

A neutral site game could be played at one of these northwestern schools that happen to sponsor 8-man football.

This would be a lot shorter travel distance than Ontonagon trying to arrange a game against a lower Michigan school somewhere.

Wonder if Ontonagon contacted Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf for a game in week 9? Most likely the game will be played in Washburn as a neutral site if it happens.

Not much for Superior Central for week 8, as Detroit Academy of the Americas is open that week, too. No Wisconsin opponents as of yet, depending on any teams cancelling their season due to low numbers.

I know SC played in Flint against Michigan School for the Deaf last year. Then, the year before, they hosted them in Eben Junction.

Pickford is playing at Mesick week 1. All the schools in the Great Lakes East conference, except for Superior Central, have all their schedules filled up.

You've obviously never seen Washburn's field. They like football so much up there the head coach has to line the field, he's not doing it for a game he's not playing. Also, do you think schools just offer up their facilities?

Looks like Superior Central has a chance to fill their schedule, as Wausaukee now has week 8 open, being they were scheduled to play Bowler Gresham who cancelled their season. Wonder if Ontonagon worked things out with Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf?
