The Randy Mattson Memorial Trophy was given out to the Class "D" team of the year in the UP every year.   The Mattson Trophy was introduced to the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association in 1974.  The Trophy was changed to be given out the the best D8 team in 2017 and for the first time was awarded to a Class C team as a result. If anyone has anymore they would like to share about the history of this award or can get me a picture of this trophy, please feel free to email me.

 13-1 Won Division 8 State Championship.  Only loss came via a forfeit to Bessemer.  Forfeit was a result of using an ineligible reserve player when game was already out of hand.
